Chris Samba Finally Arrives

Today the R's managed to clinch the signing of long term target Chris Samba in an attempt to fill the void left by Ryan Nelsen's departure to Toronto.

Samba was heavily linked with Rangers' in the last January transfer window, however Samba's previous club Blackburn Rovers were reluctant to sell him to a rival relegation rival and instead cashed in on him once Anzhi Makhachkala came in with a £12million bid for the big defender.

Samba has struggled to come with the hostility in Russia and was rumored to want to leave the club in the last transfer window but now the R's have activated his release fee clause in his contract, believed to be between £10-£12million, he finally gets his wish and returns to the Premier League and becomes the clubs record signing just two weeks after the R's paid a record fee for Loic Remy.

Samba has signed a four and a half year deal.

In his previous spell in the Premier League Samba had a reputation of being a no nonsense player on the field and was a leader of men. His big physical presence was often one that many strikers did not like to play against and this will be a strength that is key to him joining the R's. He is excellent in the air and will work well with the likes of Clint Hill as he likes to make himself known on the pitch and will often air his views to other players to get them organised and ready for battle.
Samba also brings something that a lot of our centre backs have lacked in recent years...... goals! He will lay his body on the line to ensure that he gets his head on the end of any attacking corners and will certainly bag a few goals, as well as stop a few at the other end, to really help the R's cause.

Samba will wear the number 5 shirt.

Welcome to Loftus Road Chris, he are looking forward to seeing you help our beloved club climb our way to safety.
