Burnley 2-0 QPR

Rangers unbeaten run, finally came to an end in this top of the table clash at Turf Moor, where Burnley ran out deserved winners, in a day that was full of disappointment..

During the week, there were some tweets going around that R's Chairman, Tony Fernandes was going to travel with us to the game. At first it seemed just some harmless fun, but it turned out, after tweeting Jenson personally, that he was!! Although the first disappointment came last night when he said he was having to fly in from France. But this morning, he tweeted Jenson again to confirm he would meet up at the ground or maybe the Cricket Club!!

So, I met with Jenson and PK in Wycombe, just after 10 as we started our mammoth journey to Lancashire. Lee, Jess, Sam and Luke were slightly ahead of us on the motorway, but we met up briefly at Keele services amidst the next disappointment, traffic chaos!! So much so, there would definitely be no time at all to meet with Mr Fernandes..

We arrived at Turf Moor with 15 minutes to spare and despite the Police being extremely chatty and friendly, the Stewards saw fit to more or less sexually assault us before letting us through the turnstiles. Then came, the next disappointment... The Pies!! More on that later, but we all joined the healthy R's support behind the goal in the hope that the day would rapidly improve and make the mornings ballache worthwhile..

Onto the next disappointment...

The home side started the game well and were intent on stopping Rangers playing, closing us down at every opportunity and it definitely had unsettled us, although Karl Henry had a great chance on 10 minutes and should have done better, hitting his effort straight at Heaton in goal from Hoilett's low cross.

Henry was soon in action at the other end when he miscued, letting Ings draw in on goal, only for Green to save at his feet. Green had to be at his best again, parrying away Trippier's free kick onto the head of Clint Hill who somehow directed the header away for a corner.

Onto the next disappointment - Joey Barton picked up his 5th yellow card of the season, for basically being Joey Barton...

The gang met at half time and despite Burnley being the better side in the first half, we were still feeling optimistic..

Onto the second half and Burnley were pressing hard and the next disappointment of the day came on 65 minutes when the home side took the lead -  Ings played a one-two with Sam Vokes and fired past keeper Rob Green, a decent goal to be fair.

Following some customary stick, Joey Barton was struck by a coke bottle hurled from the fans in the stand to our left and play was briefly held up. Shortly after, Barton sent in a superb free kick to Hill, who headed across goal to the unmarked Dunne who unbelievably stabbed the ball over from 5 yards out.

Harry Redknapp threw on Phillips and Chevanton for Kranjcar and O'Neil to give the R's more of an attacking option, but it sadly failed to deliver and the game was over on 87 minutes, when Barton felled Ings in the box and the hapless referee pointed to the spot - Ings sent Green the wrong way to make the game safe and extend the Clarets lead at the top of the league.

Man of the Match

My vote was individual for Richard Dunne, wheras there was a 3 vote each tie for the winner - Jess, Lee and PK voted for Junior Hoilett and Jenson, Sam and Luke went for Clint Hill, which leads to another editors choice - with the best respect, I didn't see the game Hoilett had in the same way the others did, so this weeks vote goes to - Clint Hill

Away Day Pie Rating

High hopes for this one, with them getting rave reviews 3 seasons ago, but expert analysis was given by myself, Lee and Jenson for the Hollands, Peppered Steak -

Myself and Jenson both kind off agreed it was ok? Reasonably priced at £2.50 but not overly large, I suppose the price reflected that. Easy to eat, pastry ok but not overly bursting with flavour, despite the filling being supposedly spiced up and peppered? - 7/10

At half time, Lee completely blew any decent rating out of the water - pastry crumbly, no flavour and tasted like sh*t - although Jess was quick to point out he did actually eat it all, his mark was 3/10

So, after high hopes, another disappointment and the Burnley pies are rated at 5.66/10

Well there you go, a disappointing day which had promised so much. Credit to Burnley who are a very good side, well managed, very hard working and thoroughly deserved the 3 points. They stopped Rangers playing and never once let us settle. In saying that, it's one defeat and it's how we respond from this that is more important than the result itself. The great thing about the Championship is that the next game is never far away... Move on...

Jenson will be alone in representing Lofty Heights away at Wigan on Wednesday night and we are trying to come up with something a bit different with the report.. watch this space. I must just add, he has been ordered to have a pie...
