And So It Continues...
Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 QPR
Following Saturday's excellent win over League Leaders, Wolves, QPR crashed to a disappointing defeat away at Sheffield Wednesday. Leon Clarke snatched the Owls winner as the Hillsborough side staged a late smash-and-grab raid after keeper Lee Grant had kept QPR at bay with a string of stunning saves, as the R's away goal drought sadly continues...
Well, work committments, Christmas coming and no annual leave left etc, meant I had to sit this one out as the age of the ludicrous midweek away trips for football fans continue. So, it was a nervous evening with the commentary and Sky Sports news planned and despite hearing of the R's creating plenty of chances, the 700 plus minute, 8 away game goal drought would surely come to an end as QPR were awarded a penalty after a foul on Henderson. Saturday's goal hero, Martin Rowlands stepped up...
...but he smashed his spot-kick straight at Grant in the Wednesday goal, much to the delight of the home crowd.
The inevitable happened on 75 minutes and as described by the Official QPR Website - When Watson's cross was only headed upward by Gorkss, the resultant scramble saw Small's snapshot saved by Cerny, only for Clarke to tap home the rebound to put the Owls ahead.
QPR: Cerny, Delaney (Hall 87), Stewart, Mahon (Di Carmine 78), Leigertwood, Agyemang, Gorkss, Rowlands, Ramage, Ephraim(Cook 53), Helguson. Subs: Cole, Tommasi.

QPR started the better and Helguson really should have scored but missed from two yards, then the pen miss which was a pretty good save from grant, after that you could see the confidence drain from the players resulting in the obvious. :(
