Connolly Follows Heidar Across the Border...

Today saw young defender, Matthew Connolly follow Heidar Helguson across the Welsh Border to join Championship promotion hopefuls, Cardiff City. Matthew has signed a 3 year deal with the Bluebirds for an undisclosed fee.

The 24 year old defender joined the R's in 2008 after progressing through the Arsenal Academy. He was a pivotal part of the Championship winning team, forming a formiddable partnership with Kaspars Gorkss in the centre of the R's defence. In a mixed season last year, he made just 6 Premier League appearances for the QPR before joining Reading on loan and helping them with their promotion push.

All in all, Matthew made 139 appearances for the R's and scored 2 goals.

All of us here at Lofty Heights would like to thank Matt for his time here and wish him all the very best of luck with his new club.

Rumours are rife that Matt could well been joined by Tommy Smith. We, of course will bring you more on this story if and when it develops.
