The QPR Revolving Door Is Open For Business

It's that time of season where the transfer window opened on Monday and the usual summer exodus of players takes place as Harry Redknapp looks to re-mould the R's ahead of what will be a challenging Championship season for us all at Loftus Road.

Let's start with the departures.
Leaving the club after seeing their contracts expire are -

Radek Cerny, Rob Hulse, DJ Campbell

Also leaving them after having their contracts terminated due to not being in Redknapp's plans are -

Jay Bothroyd and Djibril Cisse

What has surprised me is that we have released two proven Championship strikers in Campbell and Bothroyd who would have been an asset to he club and scored vital goals in what will be a long season in the Championship with an extra eight games to play as well as cup games to think about (not that we ever last long in them!).
Both are relatively cheap on the wage bill, especially when you compare them to the donkey Zamora who must be on £50k-£60k a week!

News broke yesterday that Anzhi have agreed a deal with the R's to sign Chris Samba after just six months at Loftus Road.
This for me is an excellent piece of business for a defender that wasn't fit at all during a hugely disappointing spell in the R's backline. In fact as we have recouped all of the transfer fee it means that Samba's wages have cost the club in the region of £250k, not a bad loss considering we all would never of dreamed of getting our money back for the former Blackburn defender!

Now we await news as to whether we will keep Taarabt and Remy, the rumours are out there but until the offers come in and transfers are completed we can look forward to seeing them both in an R's shirt for the pre-season at the very least!
What we will want to hear is the remaining deadwood departing, none more so than our monobrowed right back Jose Bosingwa. The sooner someone is stupid enough to take him off our hands the better!

We already have one arrival to the club and it's an impressive start and states the vision we are still looking to go.

Danny Simpson has signed from Newcastle United on a free transfer on a three year deal and will stamp his authority on the right back position for the season ahead. It won't be easy as Michael Harriman was largely impressive last season at Wycombe and his appearance against Liverpool in the final game of the season will not of done any harm either!

Simpson has two Championship winners medals already from his spells with Sunderland and Newcastle, so hopefully he can add to that with a successful season in W12.
Simpson always comes across as an honest player and is not afraid to put the hard graft in and I can see him becoming a new fans favourite, especially with the ladies and I'm sure they wl be queuing up to abuse his other half in the process of drolling over the former Man United player.

There was another arrival yesterday, not a player however, a new addition to the coaching team.

Steve McClaren arrives to the coaching set up to help Redknapp, Jordan and Bond as he looks to keep his coaching eye in and look for a possible opportunity to manage in Englnd once again.
McClaren's coaching credentials cannot be questioned as he has sent many years at the highest level, having worked with Sir Alex Ferguson during his timeat Man United and this helped him get his opportunity to manage and had a largely successful period at Middlesborough.
Unfortunately McClaren will always be remember as 'The Wally with the Brolly' after England failed to qualify for Euro 08 and this has damaged his reputation in England and maybe now it's time for him to show what a good manager he can be, as he did with FC Twente and winning the Eredivisie in style and beat all the big Dutch teams like Ajax and PSV to the end of season accolade.

He could be a great signing, albeit for the short team but our players will learn from one of the countries best coaches for the time that he is with us.

Now the pre-season is getting back under way all of us here at Lofty Heights will endeavour to bring you all the news as it happens (maybe later than some people) and offer our opinions on what we think about all the goings on at Loftus Road HQ.

We shall meet again!
